MESSAGE FROM COACH SCHLOSS

Howdy!

When the original idea of creating the RB EYE Foundation came up back in 2011, it was a result of a personal journey my children experienced. Not finding suitable medical answers locally, we traveled very significant distances to seek a diagnosis for some serious vision challenges. Fortunately, we found those answers and, through our Foundation, began the process of helping other families have access to similar diagnostic and treatment options for pediatric eye disorders.

Fast forward more than a decade and – surrounded by our tremendous Aggie family and the 12th man – we have the opportunity to expand the effort in a way that can have a meaningful and positive impact on families who might not have had the same resources my family was fortunate enough to have. The mission of the corporation is to provide the means to generate funds to be donated to qualified non-profit organizations involved in the research and treatment of Leber Congenital Amaurosis (LCA), an inherited retinal disease, as well as other vision disorders negatively impacting families and, in particular, children. Through our friends and supporters, we have accomplished a great deal. However, we can do more with your help.

While this all started as a very private journey for my children, it is clear the RB EYE Foundation efforts can be more impactful by including friends and supporters. Two of my favorite core values of Texas A&M are Loyalty and Selfless Service. By raising funds through the RB EYE Foundation, we can make a real difference in the lives of those who are challenged by significant vision loss. Nothing exemplifies the Aggie Spirit more than Aggies helping others improve their condition.

This effort is important to me and I am so grateful to those who have made the decision to make it important to them as well. Together, as Aggies, we can make a difference. On behalf of everyone involved in the RB EYE Foundation, thank you for your support now and in the future.

LEBER CONGENITAL
AMAUROSIS

LCA is the most common genetic cause of childhood blindness and affects fewer than 50,000 patients in the U.S.

2 to 3 out of every 100,000 babies are diagnosed with LCA.
